Le Band Extraordinaire
www.myspace.com/lebandextraordinaire
www.lebandextraordinaire.com blend melodic pop hooks with arrangements that recall a kind of twisted vaudevillian cabaret, twinned with experimental indie-rock; Blazing horns, intricate guitars, frenzied drums and enigmatic vocals create a quintessentially English sound, unique in combining the influence of XTC, Kurt Weill, Super Furry Animals, Kate Bush, Zappa and Buster Keaton. They have recently played sold out shows alongside The Noisettes (Mercury) Wild Beasts (Domino), Amanda Palmer of the Dresden Dolls (Road Runner) and The Fiery Furnaces (Thrill Jockey), and have also played with Icy Demons (Obey Your Brain), the Puppini Sisters (Universal) and Selfish C*nt (Sparrow's Tear).
"Kinda like an Egyptian street merchant wrestling an English banker in a swimming pool filled with champagne, being watched and jeered at by a crowd of jaunty seamen."
